Worship Recap: Songs, Hymns and Spiritual Songs from April 21st, 2013

Welcome to the recap of the Veritas worship gathering on April 21st, 2013. Below are the songs and liturgy from our gathering.

Song: “In The Shadow of the Glorious Cross” by Rebecca Elliott and Brooks Ritter

Reading: Call to Worship

We have seen God’s love and power demonstrated in the work of Christ on the cross! Lets respond with scripture by worshiping our God!

L: O God, Your constant love reaches to the heavens, Your faithfulness extends to the skies. Your righteousness towers like the mountains, Your justice is deeper than the sea. All find protection under the shadow of Your wings. We feast on the abundance You provide. You are the source of all life, and in Your light, we see light.
C: Praise be to You, O LORD, from everlasting to everlasting.
L: Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is Yours. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom; You are exalted as head over all. Wealth and honor come from You; You are the ruler of all things. In Your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all.
C: Now, our God, we give You thanks, and praise Your glorious name.
—Based on Psalm 36:5-9 and 1 Chronicles 29:10-13

Lets sing together as we give God thanks and praise his glorious name!!

Song: “Holy Holy Holy” by Reginald Heber

Song: “Our God” Jonas Myrin, Matt Redman, Jesse Reeves, and Chris Tomlin

Reading: Confession/Assurance:

Knowing that our God is for us, not against us, knowing that he longs for us to turn to him, our repentance turns from a desperate, hopeless call for help, to a hope-filled, confession of sins, rejoicing that the Grace of God can forgive all of the sins we have committed! Its in light of this generous grace that, this morning, we confess our selfishness and greed.

L: Sovereign Lord, You have been so gracious with us in revealing to us Your glory and generously giving us so many gifts. We confess that, in response, we are greedy and selfish with the things that You have given to us. We know that all of these, including money, time, and gifts, are given to us that we may glorify You. Because of Jesus’ death on the cross and His resurrection from the grave we have been given His righteousness and are free to worship You in all aspects of our lives. We rejoice in knowing that You abundantly pour out Your loving grace to cover our selfish, self-idolizing ways.
C: Forgive us for our sin and by Your Holy Spirit, empower us to surrendar all we are to You and to use all we have for Your glory. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Song: “I Surrender All” by Judson W. Van De Venter, Vineyard Music Group, and Winfield Scott Weeden

Passing of the Peace:

The joy of true salvation, sin and death defeated! Lets talk a few moments to celebrate this and demonstrate the peace and joy we have in the salvation that we have received through Christ!

Our Sermon this week was from Pastor Nick Nye from Luke 12: 13-21

Listen to the sermon online here.

Communion:

Please read with me the underlined portion:

L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.
C: We rejoice that You have died, rose again, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.

L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.
C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.

Song: “Death In His Grave” by John Mark McMillan

Song: “Before the Throne of God Above” by Charitie Lees Bancroft and Vikki Cook

Reading: Commitment

L: But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages He might show the immeasurable riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

C: For by grace we have been saved through faith. And this is not our own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of our works, so that we may not boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
—Based on Ephesians 2:4-10

Lets sing this last song together as we celebrate the GRACE of GOD!

Song: “Grace Alone” by Citizens- Mars Hill

Benediction:

Hear this benediction as we go:

May the God of peace guard your hearts from the false and fading comforts of idols and may he lead you to find true satisfaction only in His grace. Go now and generously display his grace to the world around us. Go in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Peace be with you.

L: Peace be with you. C: And also with you.
