Veritas Gathered: Preparing for Sunday – July 21st, 2013

 ::SERMON::
The sermon this week comes from Romans 9: 6-13. See what Paul has to say as we consider the sovereign nature of our God.  Have you ever considered how our lives fit into God’s purpose? How often do we forget about God’s purpose because we are so focused on our own desires and the pursuits of our own purposes?

::LITURGY::
Forgetfulness seems to be a plague for the people of God. We so quickly forget what God has done for us and the promises yet even in our forgetfulness God shows us abundant grace. He has made away through Jesus for us to come before him and confess our lack of faith knowing that he is faithful to forgive, restore, and redeem us. That is what our confession reading focuses on this week.

L: Most merciful God our Savior, our redeemer, we confess before you our brokenness, even in our great need we have forgotten your provision. We have looked to other things to satisfy our hunger and thirst, we have doubted your power to protect us. Our ears have been deaf to your call; our hearts have been cold to your love
C: Forgive our lack of faith; have mercy on our weakness. Restore in us trust and love that we may walk in your ways and delight in doing your will. May we seek refuge in the merciful arms of Jesus, our High Priest. Amen.

::MUSIC::

Check out this list of some of the songs we will be singing together this week:

– “Every Step”, a new song that simply reminds us of the frequency and abundance of Gods grace.

– “Oh Love That Will Not Let Me Go” is a richly lyrical song that gives us an opportunity to speak truth into our hearts about God’s unfailing nature.

– “Grace Alone”, this speaks for itself. It is only by grace that we have life and salvation.

Here is a link to a Spotify playlist.

Even though our arrangements might be slightly different, listen through these songs and see the great truths that they speak about our God and then come prepared to sing them out loudly and joyfully as a gathered church.

See you Sunday!
