Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – April 20th, 2014

Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and spiritual song of the Veritas worship gathering on April 13th, 2014.

::: This sunday we celebrated Easter! Easter Sunday is such a joyous time of celebration at Veritas. We got excited about our risen savior and loudly worshiped our Heavenly Father for his miraculous display of grace in sending his son to die and raise from the dead for sinners like ourselves.  :::

Song: “Christ The Lord Is Risen Today” by Charles Wesley

Reading:

L: Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb.  And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.” So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him.
-Matthew 28:1-9

Reading: Adoration

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
—Colossians 1:15-20

L: Hallelujah! Christ is risen!
C: He is risen indeed! Hallelujah!

Song: “All Hail The Power of Jesus’ Name” by Oliver Holden, Edward Perronet, and John (adapt) Rippon

Reading: Commitment

If we believe in Jesus, we are citizens of heaven, where the risen Lord Jesus Christ lives. And we are eagerly waiting for Him to return as our Savior. He will take our weak, mortal bodies and raise them into glorious bodies like His own, using the same power with which He will bring everything under His control.
C: Praise be to our risen Savior and all glory to God our Father forever and ever. Amen!
–Based on Philippians 3:20-21

Song:
“Absent From Flesh” by Jamie Barnes

Reading: Sending

L: And you, who were dead in your sin, God made alive together with Christ (speaking of Christ’s resurrection from the dead!), having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands.
C: Our sins He set aside, nailing them to the cross.
L: He disarmed the forces of evil and death and put them to shame, triumphing over them by raising Christ from the dead. Hallelujah! Christ is risen!
C: He is risen indeed! Hallelujah!

—Based on Colossians 2:8-15

Song: “In Christ Alone” by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend

Hear this benediction as we go:

L:May you go forth with joy because Jesus our Savior lives! He has defeated death, risen from the grave and will one day soon return to gather his church to himself! Go resting and rejoicing in what Jesus has done for us, and may we live for his glory and mission in all that we do. Peace be with you.
C: And also with you.
