Sold! Joseph, The Slave [GENESIS 37:2-36] GENESIS: The Gospel According to Joseph

Song: “Take”

:::ADORATION:::

L: Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom. One generation commends Your works to another; they tell of Your mighty acts and of Your faithfulness.

C: We speak of the glorious splendor of Your majesty—and we will meditate on Your wonderful works. We tell of the power of Your awesome works—and we will proclaim Your great deeds. We will join with all generations as we celebrate Your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of Your righteousness.

—Adapted from Psalm 145:3-7

Song: “Everything is Yours”

:::CONFESSION/ASSURANCE:::

L: Almighty God, You have called us to be the church, building one another up and reflecting Christ to a lonely and confused world. But we confess that we are more apathetic than active, more callous than compassionate, more rebellious than obedient, more legalistic than loving.

C: Gracious Lord, have mercy upon us and forgive our sins. Remove everything in our hearts that prevents us from loving each other and displaying you to a broken world. Awaken our hearts to the gift of your Spirit. By His power, may we make you known in our homes, neighborhoods, and places of work. This we pray in Jesus’ powerful name. Amen.

Song: “Shine Into Our Night”

Song: “The Solid Rock

:::PASSING OF THE PEACE:::

:::PROCLAMATION OF THE WORD:::

:::COMMUNION:::

L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.

C: We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.

L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.

C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.

Song: “Your Love Shines”

Song: “Bless the Lord (Son of Man)”

:::COMMITMENT:::

L: But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ-by grace you have been saved- and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

C: For by grace we have been saved through faith. And this is not our own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of our works, so that we may not boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

—based on Ephesians 2:4-10

Song: “Grace Alone”

:::BENEDICTION::

May the grace of Christ give us rest in the midst of turmoil, and may the love of God being us peace in times of suffering, and may the power of the Holy Spirit enable us to have hope in the Gospel and to live for the glory of the Almighty God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Peace be with you.
