::: CALL TO WORSHIP :::

Song: “Doxology”

L: I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples.  For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.

-based on Psalm 57:9-11

L: Ascribe to the Lord, O mighty ones, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.  Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.

-based on Psalm 29: 1-2

L: Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.  For you, O Lord, have delivered my soul from death, my eyes from tears, my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before the Lord in the land of the living.

-based on Psalm 117:7-9

L: But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children…The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all.

-based on Psalm 103:17, 19

C: Praise the Lord. Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.

-based on Psalm 106:1

:::CONFESSION/ASSURANCE:::

In spite of know that God is all-powerful, above all, in full control, we often live overwhelmed with our perceived needs because we are underwhelmed by our greatest need.

Our greatest need is to be reconciled to God! Our greatest need is for sins to be forgiven, for our wrongdoings not to be held against us! Our greatest need has been meet by JESUS who, having no sin, took our sin to the cross and bore it as he was murdered there he paid the price for you and I, and all who believe in Him!

L: Our Father, forgive us for thinking small thoughts of You and for ignoring Your immensity and greatness. Lord Jesus, forgive us when we forget that You are Lord of all the world and our small lives. Holy Spirit, we offend You in minimizing Your power and squandering Your gifts.

C: We confess that our blindness to Your glory, O triune God, has resulted in shallow confession, tepid conviction, and only mild repentance. Have mercy upon us and restore our view of Your glory.

L: Through Your Spirits work, bring us to true repentance, remind us of our continued need for Your grace, and make us righteous through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ! Its in the glorious name of Jesus Christ that we pray, Amen.

– Based on a reading from Worship Source Book

 Song: “I Shall Not Want”

 Song: “Rock Of Ages”

:::PASSING OF THE PEACE:::

“Let me hide myself in thee.” Jesus you are a place of rest for us.  We pray for the christians in Iraq and the surrounding areas who are facing persecution and death, who are being chased from their homes and towns.

L: Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free. The Lord is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation I shall not die, but I shall live, and recount the deeds of the Lord.

– based on Psalm 118:4-5, 14, 17

C: In Christ, God answers us and saves us! In Christ, our sins are forgiven! In Christ, we find true rest and peace! Thanks be to God.

:::PROCLAMATION OF THE WORD:::

Our Sermon was from Nick Nye on GENESIS 43-45

 Song: “No Condemnation”

:::COMMUNION:::

L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.

C: We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.

L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.

C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.

:::COMMITMENT:::

L: What do you believe about the work of God?

C: We believe that God, who is perfectly merciful and just, sent his Son to bear the punishment of our disobedience by his most bitter death.

L: And what do you believe about the work of Jesus Christ?

C: We believe that Jesus Christ presented himself in our name before his Father, to appease his wrath with full satisfaction by offering himself on the cross and pouring out his precious blood for the cleansing of our sins.

L: What comfort does this give you?

C: We find all rest and comforts in his wounds and have no need to seek or invent any other means to reconcile ourselves with God than this one and only sacrifice, once made, which renders believers perfect forever.

-Based on Belgic Confession, articles 20-21
