Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and spiritual song of the Veritas worship gathering on August 24, 2014

STORIES OF GRACE | PASTOR NICK NYE

TEXT: Colossians 1:3-8

Song: “Bless the Lord (Son of Man)”

We sing out “Bless the lord, oh my soul” as cry for our hearts and souls to see the Lord as holy, to worship him to sing “Bless the Lord” is to say “The Lord is Holy, worth of worship, worthy of honor.” So lets sing this out again, boldly lifting our voices together in loud song…that we might respond to God’s call to worship Him and together proclaim the holiness of God as we worship Him!

:::ADORATION:::

L: He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.

– Col 1:15-20

Song: ” Praise To The Lord”

:::CONFESSION/ASSURANCE:::

L: God of salvation, in Christ You have done great things—our hearts are filled with joy. By Your power You lifted us out of the wasteland of sin and brought us with joy and peace into Your kingdom. Salvation is Your gift to us.

C: But we confess that often we try to replace Your gift with our own efforts. We try to complete what is already perfect; we try to add to what is already full; we try to earn what we already have. Forgive us for our foolishness. May Your Spirit convict us of our sin and cause us to rest in the redeeming work of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, through whom we have been given new life. Amen.

Take time to personally confess the areas of your heart and life where you are looking beyond Jesus for satisfaction, the areas of your heart in which you reserve for yourself and your desires, the things which you refuse to surrender to Jesus. Let’s repent of this and turn to Jesus, know that only He can forgive our sins and satisfy our souls!

:::COMMUNION:::

L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.

C: We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.

L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.

C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.

Song: “Grace Alone”

Song: “Be Thou My Vision”

:::BAPTISMS:::

Baptism is a public declaration of a inner reality.  Jesus himself, along with scripture, calls those who have believed in Him for their salvation to be baptized. Its a beautiful display of the drama of the salvation that we have been brought in to! The symbol of being taken under the water symbolizes our being united with Christ in his death, laid in the grave……then our raising out of the water demonstrates our being raised to new life with Christ, our sins washed away, rising redeemed and renewed into everlasting life!!

:::BENEDICTION:::

Because of Christ’s resurrection, we have the hope and promise of eternal life. As we go, may that truth sink deep into our hearts and may we live in worship of our Risen Savior, to the glory of God the Father, by the power of the Holy Spirit. Peace be with you.
