Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – November 9, 2014

Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and spiritual song of the Veritas worship gathering on November 9, 2014

This Sunday, we’re continuing a sermon series on prayer called “A movement of Prayer”…We’re excited to have this time to look at scripture and grow together in prayer! We’re going to begin our gathering by singing together the Lord’s Prayer.

Song: “Your Love Is Strong – Jon Foreman”

:::ADORATION:::

L: Blessed be the Lord! For He has heard the voice of my pleas for mercy. The Lord is my strength and my shield; in Him my heart trusts, and I am helped;
my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to Him.
C:The Lord is the strength of His people; He is the saving refuge of His anointed.
—Based on Ps 28:6-8

Song: “All Creatures Of Our God And King”

Song: “You Are The Living Word – Fred Hammond”

:::CONFESSION/ASSURANCE:::

L: Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

– Hebrews 4:14-16

C: Father, we confess that we do not worship you fully. Our hearts run after the things of this world and we seek our own glory above yours. We put you in a box, thinking small thoughts about you. We belittle you by worrying about our lives instead of glorifying you by trusting the promises you’ve made to us in scripture. We plead the blood of Christ and rejoice in the mercy and grace we’ve received. We ask the Holy Spirit to help us glorify you by becoming more like Christ and more satisfied in you. Its in the name of Jesus we pray.

Song: “Empty Me Out – Liz Vice”

:::PASSING OF THE PEACE:::

Because of Christ’s work on the cross, his death and resurrection, we have been brought back into communion with our God! Because of Jesus, we can sing out with confidence, “In life and death, Lord, Abide with me.”. Our God is with us! We have peace with our creator, our Father. And that same peace is among us this morning, because the Spirit of God unifies us together in Christ! Lets demonstrate this together as we take a few moments to greet each other.

:::PROCLAMATION OF THE WORD:::

Our Sermon was from Joe Byler on Application IN | A Movement of Prayer

:::COMMUNION:::

L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.
C: We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.
L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.
C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.

Song: “Our Treasure – Shai Linne”

:::COMMITMENT:::

L: I will bless the LORD at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul makes its boast in the LORD; let the humble hear and be glad. Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together!
C: I sought the LORD, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.
L: Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed. This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and delivers them.
C: Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!

-Psalm 34:1-8 ESV

Song: “God Is Good”

:::BENEDICTION:::

May our heavenly Father, the God of hope, fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that Christ would be glorified in all things as you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Peace be with you!
