Veritas Gathered: Preparing for Sunday – November 23, 2014

SERMON

This weeks sermon text is 2 Peter 2:19.  Join us as we continue in our series of “The Problem of Pain”! This week we will be focusing on addiction and overcoming the enslavement it brings through scripture. Please join us as we tackle this prevalent issue.

LITURGY

L: Oh sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth! Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of his salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!

C: For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the Lord made the heavens.

L: Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. Ascribe to the Lord, O families of the peoples, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength! Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; bring an offering, and come into his courts!

C: Worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness; tremble before him, all the earth!
Psalm 96:1-9

MUSIC

Check out this list of some of the songs we will be singing together this week:

  • “You Alone” – This song joyfully exalts God and ascribes praise for His gracious and holy nature
  • “I Shall Not Want” – A song about deliverance from fear and resting in Jesus.
  • “More and More” – A powerful song about longing for Christ

Here is a link to a Spotify playlist.

Even though our arrangements might be slightly different, listen through these songs and see the great truths that they speak about our God and then come prepared to sing them out loudly and joyfully as a gathered church.
