Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – January 4th, 2015

Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and readings of the Veritas worship gathering on January 4th, 2015

This Sunday, we are starting a new series! For the next several weeks we will be focusing on the fruit of the spirit as written in Galatians. This week we are focusing on Love and Joy. As we start a new year let us strive to produce these fruits in our lives. We’re going to begin our gathering by singing “I Sing The Mighty Power of God”

Song: “I Sing The Mighty Power of God”

:::ADORATION:::

L: Sing a new song to the Lord! Let the whole earth sing to the Lord and praise His name. Each day proclaim the good news that He saves. Publish His glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things He does.
C: Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! He is to be feared above all gods.
L: The gods of this world are mere idols, but the Lord made the heavens! Honor and majesty surround Him; strength and beauty fill His sanctuary.
C: O nations of the world, recognize the Lord; recognize that the Lord is glorious and strong. Give to the Lord the glory He deserves! Bring your offering and come into His courts. Worship the Lord in all His holy splendor. Let all the earth tremble before Him. Tell all the nations, “The Lord reigns!”

—Based on Psalm 96 (NLT)

Song: “All Creatures of Our God and King”

:::CONFESSION/ASSURANCE:::

L: O Lord, in light of Your glory and holiness, we confess that our wills are rebellious, our faith is often more show than substance, our worship of You is often based more on our feelings rather than Your glory. Our hearts seek our own comfort and lead us to sin instead of following and trusting You, our Savior, our Messiah. Have mercy on us, O God. Help us to give to You all that we are and all that we have. Trusting You to lead us to repentance, to forgive what is sinful, to heal what is broken, to mold and shape us for Your glory.
C: We confess our need for You, our Savior, and trust in the work You accomplished for us on the cross. It’s in Your holy name that we pray. Amen.

Song: “More and More”

:::PASSING OF THE PEACE:::

Because of Christ’s work on the cross, his death and resurrection, we have been brought back into communion with our God! Because of Jesus, we can sing out with confidence, “In life and death, Lord, Abide with me.”. Our God is with us! We have peace with our creator, our Father. And that same peace is among us this morning, because the Spirit of God unifies us together in Christ! Lets demonstrate this together as we take a few moments to greet each other.

:::PROCLAMATION OF THE WORD:::

Our Sermon was from Nick on Application IN | Love & Joy

Song: “My Song is Jesus”

:::COMMUNION:::

L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.
C: We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.
L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.
C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.

Song: “Bless the Lord (Son of Man)”

:::COMMITMENT:::

L: This is the good news that we have received, in which we stand, and by which we are saved; that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, and that He was raised to life on the third day,
C: We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. He is our Lord and our God.
L: We rejoice that the Spirit of God is transforming our hearts and lives through the Gospel of Jesus, as He is waking and empowering us to see our place in this world.
C: Go forth in us, Spirit of God, that we may be the unified church; empower us to worship you with all that we have, to live out the Gospel in loving community, to display the Gospel as active servants. to understand the Gospel by being learners of God’s Word, and to proclaim the Gospel as we live on mission in our city.

Song: “O Fount of Love”

:::BENEDICTION:::

May the grace of Christ give us rest in the midst of turmoil, and may the love of God being us peace in times of suffering, and may the power of the Holy Spirit enable us to have hope in the Gospel and to live for the glory of the Almighty God, through Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Peace be with you.
