Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – February 22nd, 2015

Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and readings of the Veritas worship gathering on February 15th, 2015

This week we continued through studying the book of Acts! This Sunday’s message was titled “Demonstration and Proclaimation”. The sermon text for this series is Acts 3. In this passage Peter and John have an encounter with a lame man. Here we see a miracle demonstrated in the name of Jesus Christ.  As we continue through this informative book lets open our ears and our hearts to hear from God through His Word. We will start our gathering by singing “Abide”

Song: “Abide – Liz Vice”

:::ADORATION:::

L: Praise the LORD. It is so good to sing praises to our God, Praising him is beautiful, it’s how the world should be. The LORD builds up his people; he gathers them together out of exile. He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds. This same God determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.
C: Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit. Let’s sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; make music to our God with instruments and voices. For he delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.

– Based on Psalms 147

Song: “Praise to the Lord – Citizens”

:::CONFESSION/ASSURANCE:::

L: Once we, too, were foolish and disobedient. We were misled and became slaves to many lusts and pleasures. Our lives were full of evil and envy, and we hated each other. But—
C: “When God our Savior revealed His kindness and love, He saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy.
L: He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior.
C: Because of His grace He declared us righteous and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life.”

—Titus 3:3-7

Song: “Death Has Lost Its Sting – Sojourn”

:::PASSING OF THE PEACE:::

Because of Christ’s work on the cross, his death and resurrection, we have been brought back into communion with our God! Because of Jesus, we can sing out with confidence, “In life and death, Lord, Abide with me.”. Our God is with us! We have peace with our creator, our Father. And that same peace is among us this morning, because the Spirit of God unifies us together in Christ! Lets demonstrate this together as we take a few moments to greet each other.

:::PROCLAMATION OF THE WORD:::

Our Sermon was from Nick on Application IN | Demonstration and Proclamation

Song: “Jesus at the Center – Israel Houghton”

:::COMMUNION:::

L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.
C: We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.
L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.
C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.

Song: “Our Treasure – Shai Linne”

:::COMMITMENT:::

L: Christ died for our sins, was buried, was raised on the third day, and appeared first to the women, then to Peter and the Twelve, and then to many faithful witnesses.
C: We believe Jesus is the Christ, the Anointed One of God, the firstborn of all creation, the firstborn from the dead, in whom all things hold together, in whom the fullness of God was pleased to dwell by the power of the Spirit. Christ is the head of the body, the church, and by the blood of the cross reconciles all things to God. Amen.
—based on 1 Corinthians 15:3-7; Colossians 1:15-20

Song: “This I Believe (The Creed) – Hillsong”

:::BENEDICTION:::

To Him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before His glorious presence without fault and with great joy— to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power, and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen! Peace be with you
—Jude 24-25
