Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – March 29th, 2015
Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and readings of the Veritas worship gathering on March 29th, 2015
Song: “I Sing the Mighty Power of God”
L: Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
C: Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Song: “King of Glory – Chris Tomlin”
L: O Lord, today we remember Your entrance into the rebellious city of Jerusalem. The very crowds that praised You would soon turn and demand Your death. We confess that our wills are as rebellious as the crowd’s. Our faith is often more show than substance, our worship of You is often based more on our feelings than Your glory. Our hearts seek our own comfort and lead us to sin instead of following and trusting You, our Savior, our Messiah.
C: Have mercy on us, O God. Help us to give to You all that we are and all that we have, trusting You to lead us to repentance, to forgive what is sinful, to heal what is broken, and to mold and shape us for Your glory. We confess our need for You, our Savior, and trust in the work You accomplished for us on the Cross. It’s in Your holy name that we pray. Amen.
Song: “Shine Into Our Night – Sovereign Grace Music”
:::PASSING OF THE PEACE:::
Because of Christ’s work on the cross, his death and resurrection, we have been brought back into communion with our God! Because of Jesus, we can sing out with confidence, “In life and death, Lord, Abide with me.”. Our God is with us! We have peace with our creator, our Father. And that same peace is among us this morning, because the Spirit of God unifies us together in Christ! Lets demonstrate this together as we take a few moments to greet each other.
:::PROCLAMATION OF THE WORD:::
Our Sermon was from Nick on Application IN | Obey God
Song: “Death In His Grave – John Mark McMillan”
L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.
C: We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.
L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.
C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.
Song: “Jesus At The Center – Israel Houghton”
L: God and Father of Jesus, You have sent Your Son to be our Savior: our light in the midst of darkness, our rescue from the raging floods, our hope in the face of threats, our peace amid turmoil.
C: In Your Word we have seen Jesus and know that Your promises are true. Send us forth from this gathering with a renewed awakening to the Glory of Christ and cause us to trust and worship Him with all that we do, that we may live for Your glory. This we ask in the name of Jesus, the Lord. Amen.
Song: “Be Thou My Vision”
May the grace of Christ, which daily renews us, and the love of God, which enables us to love all, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, which unites us in one body, make us eager to obey the will of God until we meet again, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
