Veritas Gathered: Preparing for Sunday, July 12th, 2015
This week we are re-entering the book of Acts, the early history of the church. Jeff Beisel will be preaching a sermon called “The Inclusive Gospel” based on Acts 10 – 11:18. As we work through this picture of the Gospel in the early church, let us remember the meaning behind the authors words and led the Holy Spirit guide us in correct understanding.
L: “I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries. I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees. You will be my people, and I will be your God.”
L: Friends in Christ: by the power of the Spirit, we are united with Christ, called together as His Church and given a new spirit. Behold the greatness of our God!
C: In Christ we are made right. Thanks be to our loving God!
Check out this list of some of the songs we will be singing together this week:
- “Be Thou My Vision” – A hymn which calls us to make God the desire and ruler of our hearts, forming our hearts to His own.
- “Nothing But The Blood” – A reminder that the blood and sacrifice of Christ is the precious source of our new life.
- “In Tenderness” – A sweet expression of thanks and appreciation for God’s grace and love for us, that He rescued us from our sin.
Here is a link to a Spotify playlist. This playlist is comprised of songs being played at all four congregations this weekend, so you may not hear them all at your congregation. Even though our arrangements might be slightly different, listen through these songs and see the great truths that they speak about our God and then come prepared to sing them out loudly and joyfully as a gathered church.
