Veritas Gathered: Preparing for Sunday, July 12th, 2015

This week we are re-entering the book of Acts, the early history of the church. Garrison Greene will be preaching a sermon called “The Inclusive Gospel” based on Acts 10 – 11:18. As we work through this picture of the Gospel in the early church, let us remember the meaning behind the authors words and led the Holy Spirit guide us in correct understanding.

L: “I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries. I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean. I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees. You will be my people, and I will be your God.”

-Ezekiel 36:24-28

L: Friends in Christ: by the power of the Spirit, we are united with Christ, called together as His Church and given a new spirit. Behold the greatness of our God!

C: In Christ we are made right. Thanks be to our loving God!

Check out this list of some of the songs we will be singing together this week:

  • “Greater Is He” – A new song proclaiming the greatness of our God and the strength He gives us.
  • “Sovereign God” – An important remind that while circumstances seem to overwhelm us, God is more powerful than what surrounds us.
  • “Grace Alone” – This song voices the truth that we are His by His grace only, nothing else could save us.

Here is a link to a Spotify playlist. This playlist is comprised of songs being played at all four congregations this weekend, so you may not hear them all at your congregation. Even though our arrangements might be slightly different, listen through these songs and see the great truths that they speak about our God and then come prepared to sing them out loudly and joyfully as a gathered church.
