Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – Sunday, July 19, 2015
Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and readings of the Veritas worship gathering on July 19th, 2015
L: Praise the Lord! Let us give thanks to the Lord with our whole heart, together as one body and voice, let us worship God!
C: Great are the works of the Lord. We remember and delight in the amazing things He has done!
L: He is full of splendor and majesty and His righteousness endures forever. He has caused His wondrous works to be remembered; The Lord is gracious and merciful. The works of His hands are faithful and just; He sent redemption to His people; He has commanded His covenant forever.
C: Holy and awesome is His name! Praise be to the Lord!
Based on Psalm 111
C: We confess to You, O God of peace, our sin and unbelief. End our pride and take away our arrogance. When the guilt of our ways threatens to overcome us, help us to remember Christ, who became the sacrifice for our sins and through Whom we are forgiven and restored. Instill within us Your peace, O God, and by Your Spirit, revive our souls with new life in You. Amen
Song: “Empty Me Out”
:::PASSING OF THE PEACE:::
:::PROCLAMATION OF THE WORD:::
Our Sermon was preached by Ryan Stanley, entitled “The Unstoppable Gospel”, from Acts 11:19 – 12.
Song: “All Hail The Power of Jesus Name”
Song: “Our God”
L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.
C: We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.
L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.
C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.
L: But this precious treasure—this light and power that now shine within us—is held in a perishable container, that is, in our weak bodies. Everyone can see that the glorious power within must be from God and is not our own. We are pressed on every side by troubles, but not crushed and broken. We are perplexed because we don’t know why things happen as they do, but we don’t give up and quit. We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going.
C: These bodies of ours are constantly facing death just as Jesus did; so it is clear to all that it is only the living Christ within who keeps us safe.
2 Corinthians 4:7-9 TLB
Song: “Hail the King”
May the God who shakes heaven and earth, whom death could not contain, who lives to transform and heal us, bless you with power to go forth and proclaim the gospel. The grace of God be with you all, now and always. Peace be with you.
