Veritas Gathered: Preparing for Sunday, July 26th, 2015
This week we are continuing through the book of Acts, the early history of the church. Wes Thompson will be preaching a sermon called “Paul and Barnabas’ Missionary Journey” based on Acts 13-15. As we learn through this story of the earliest missionaries, let us remember the meaning behind the authors words and led the Holy Spirit guide us in correct understanding.
L: Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
C: So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
—2 Corinthians 4:16-18
Check out this list of some of the songs we will be singing together this week:
- “You Alone” – a song of adoration and praise for all of the ways that God is good.
- “Our Great God” – a comfort that even in the moments when we feel helpless and frail, God is still great and still in control.
- “Hallelujah What A Savior” – a reminder of the immense sacrifice of our Savior, when we were helpless to even ask for salvation .
Here is a link to a Spotify playlist. This playlist is comprised of songs being played at all four congregations this weekend, so you may not hear them all at your congregation. Even though our arrangements might be slightly different, listen through these songs and see the great truths that they speak about our God and then come prepared to sing them out loudly and joyfully as a gathered church.
