Veritas Gathered: Preparing for Sunday, August 9, 2015
This week we are continuing through the book of Acts, the early history of the church. Nick Nye will be preaching a sermon called “The Contextualized Gospel” based on Acts 17:6-34. As we learn through this story of the earliest missionaries, let us remember the meaning behind the authors words and led the Holy Spirit guide us in correct understanding.
C: Gracious God, as we go from here we ask that the power of the Holy Spirit would give us boldness to proclaim Your gospel which turns the world upside down. That many would see the glory of You, oh God, who created the earth and in repentance, turn and worship You. We ask that You would continue to shake us, Your church, with Your gospel truth, that we would not remain stagnant in our routines, but that we would have courage to take chances for Your glory, that all we do would bring honor to Your name.
Check out this list of some of the songs we will be singing together this week:
- “Oh Great is Our God” – a song of adoration and praise that presses us to proclaim His greatness to our world.
- “Praise to the Lord” – a celebration of God’s goodness and majesty.
- “Our Treasure” – a song that calls us to remember how immense the blessing of God’s love and provision is.
Here is a link to a Spotify playlist. This playlist is comprised of songs being played at all four congregations this weekend, so you may not hear them all at your congregation. Even though our arrangements might be slightly different, listen through these songs and see the great truths that they speak about our God and then come prepared to sing them out loudly and joyfully as a gathered church.
