Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – Sunday August 9th, 2015

Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and readings of the Veritas worship gathering on August 9th, 2015

This week we continued through the book of Acts with a sermon entitled “Christless Consumerism” from Acts 19:21-41 preached by Taelor Gray. So, as we explore God’s action in and through the church, let us open our ears and our hearts to hear from God through His Word and rejoice in Him! We will start the gathering by singing a song called “Oh! Great is Our God!”.
Song: “Oh! Great is Our God!”
Song: “Praise to the Lord”

:::ADORATION:::

L: Let everyone in the world fear the Lord, and let everyone stand in awe of Him. Let all who live in the world honor God.

C: Our souls rest in God. Only God is our help and our shield. In Him, our hearts rejoice, for we trust in God’s holy name.

L: May Your unfailing love surround us, O God, for our hope is in You alone.

Based Psalm 33:8, 20-22

:::CONFESSION/ASSURANCE:::

Prayer of confession for our lack of praise.

:::PASSING OF THE PEACE:::

:::PROCLAMATION OF THE WORD:::

Our sermon was preached by Wes Thompson, entitled “The Contextualized Gospel”, from Acts 17:16-34.

:::COMMUNION:::

L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.

C: We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.

L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.

C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.

Song: “Oh God”

:::COMMITMENT:::

C: Gracious God, as we go from here we ask that the power of the Holy Spirit would give us boldness to proclaim Your gospel which turns the world upside down. That many would see the glory of You, oh God, who created the earth and in repentance, turn and worship You. We ask that You would continue to shake us, Your church, with Your gospel truth, that we would not remain stagnant in our routines, but that we would have courage to take chances for Your glory, that all we do would bring honor to Your name.

Song: “Grace Alone”

:::BENEDICTION:::

Go equipped by the grace of God and surrounded by salvation’s walls. Proclaim this great news and let nothing shake your hope, for you have a sure foundation that nothing can shake, and that foundation is Jesus Christ. Peace be with you.
