Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – Sunday September 6th, 2015

Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and readings of the Veritas worship gathering on September 6th, 2015

This week we wrapped up our series in the book of Acts with a sermon entitled “Acts Epilogue: The Christian Mission” from Acts 27-28 preached by Nick Nye. So, as we explore God’s action in and through the church, let us open our ears and our hearts to hear from God through His Word and rejoice in Him! We will start the gathering by singing a song called “Made Alive”.
Song: “Made Alive”

Come, bless the Lord,
in whom we find our refuge and safety.

You are our God;
all the good things come from You alone.

Come, bless the Lord,
who guides us on the path to eternal life,
whose presence strengthens and sustains us.

You are our God; we will not be shaken.
Let’s worship God together!
– based on Psalm 16

Song: “Our Great God”

God of salvation, in Christ You have done great things—our hearts are filled with joy. By Your power You lifted us out of the wasteland of sin and brought us with joy and peace into Your kingdom. Salvation is Your gift to us.
But we confess that often we try to replace Your gift with our own efforts. We try to complete what is already perfect; we try to add to what is already full; we try to earn what we already have. Forgive us for our foolishness. May Your Spirit convict us of our sin and cause us to rest in the redeeming work of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, through whom we have been given new life. Amen.

Song: “Fix My Eyes”

Our sermon was preached by Nick Nye, entitled “Acts Epilogue: The Christian Mission”, from Acts 27-28.

Song: “If Not For Your Grace”

Song: “More and More”

L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.

C: We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.

L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.

C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.

Commitment prayer

Song: “Be Thou My Vision”

May the God who breathed life into creation be your delight. May Christ Jesus give you hope in your longing, and may the Holy Spirit, your advocate and supporter, set your hearts ablaze with a passion for the glory of God. Peace be with you. – Adapted from re:Worship, based on Joel 2:28-32; Acts 2:17-18
