Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – September 13th, 2015

Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and readings of the Veritas worship gathering on September 13th, 2015

This week we wrapped up our series in the book of Acts with a sermon entitled “Acts Epilogue: The Christian Mission” from Acts 27-28 preached by Wes Thompson. So, as we explore God’s action in and through the church, let us open our ears and our hearts to hear from God through His Word and rejoice in Him! We will start the gathering by singing a song called “Rejoice”.
Song: “Rejoice”

L: Come, bless the Lord with me! Let’s sing his praise together.

C: For our lives are in God’s hands and it is he alone who keeps our feet from stumbling.
from Psalm 66

Song: “In Tenderness”

L: God of all glory, we confess that it’s so easy for us to get caught up in religious routine and neglect your heart for justice, mercy, and faithfulness. We confess that we use our own brokenness as an excuse to ignore the needs surrounding us.

C: Lead us to repentance and break our hearts of our pride and arrogance. As we grasp the immensity of grace freely given to us by Christ’s death on the cross, compel us to be active participants in Your grand narrative of redemption and love. May Your Spirit lead us to demonstrate the gospel in all that we do. We ask this in the name of Jesus, our Savior, Amen.

Song: “In Christ Alone”

Our sermon was preached by Wes Thompson, entitled “Acts Epilogue: The Christian Mission”, from Acts 27-28.

Song: “Alas and Did my Savior Bleed”

L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.

C: We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.

L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.

C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.

Song: “In the Shadow of the Glorious Cross”

L: This is the call that we have as the redeemed church:
C: Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
L: As you go, proclaim Jesus in all that you do and say, teaching others of his grace and mercy.
C: We go resting in the words that Jesus spoke to us: “And behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
Based on Matthew 28:18-20

Song: “I Am Set Free”

May the glory of God consume our entire lives as we live in his grace and go forth to share the gospel of Jesus! Go in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Peace be with you!
