Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – Sunday October 4th, 2015

Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and readings of the Veritas worship gathering on October 4th, 2015

This week we continued our sermon series, Remembering our Redemption, with a sermon entitled “Covenant” from Genesis 15:18 preached by Wes Thompson. So, as we relive the story of redemption seen throughout Scripture, let us open our ears and our hearts to hear from God through His Word and rejoice in Him! We will start the gathering by singing a song called “Jesus!”.
Song: “Jesus!”

L: Oh, give thanks to the Lord; call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples! Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; tell of all His wondrous works! Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice! Remember the wondrous works that He has done, His miracles, and the judgments He uttered. He is the Lord our God; His judgments are in all the earth. He remembers His covenant forever, the word that He commanded, for a thousand generations. Praise the Lord!
—based on Psalm 105:1-5, 7-8

Song: “Praise to the Lord”

L: Oh God, in gracious love You promise to care for us and all of the earth; in steadfast love You keep Your promise.

C: But we, who so quickly embrace Your covenant, just as quickly betray it; instead of honoring and loving You, we too often offer only contempt.

L: We ask that in our sin and disregard of Your promises, You would remind us of Your never-ending love and faithfulness.

C: Reveal to us, through Your Holy Spirit, Your grace that redeems us and cause us to have faith in Your promise to restore us through the work of Jesus Christ. Amen

Song: “Satisfied in You”

Our sermon was preached by Wes Thompson, entitled “Covenant”, from Genesis 15:18.

Song: “Jesus at the Center”

L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.

C: We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.

L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.

C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.

Song: “Oh God”

C: For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.

L: And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling, and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

—1 Corinthians 2:2-5

Song: “10,000 Reasons”

May our covenant God encompass you with the mysterious power of the Spirit of God and transform you to become more and more like Christ. Peace be with you.
