Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap Sunday November 1st, 2015

Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and readings of the Veritas worship gathering on November 1st, 2015

This week we continued our sermon series, Remembering our Redemption, with a sermon entitled “Thirst” from John 19:20 preached by Gary Aston. So, as we relive the story of redemption seen throughout Scripture, let us open our ears and our hearts to hear from God through His Word and rejoice in Him! We will start the gathering by singing a song called “Our Treasure”.

:::ADORATION:::

L: With joy we praise you, holy God, for you created heaven and earth, made us in your image, and kept covenant with us – even when we fell into sin. You invite us to the cross of Jesus even in the midst of our brokenness. In the work of Your Son, Jesus, You give us life, redeeming and restoring your image in us.

C: All praise and glory belong to You, O God!

L: We give you thanks for Jesus Christ, our Savior, who by his life, death, and resurrection opened to us the way of everlasting life. Therefore we join our voices with all creation to proclaim the glory of Your name.

Song: “Our Treasure”

:::CONFESSION/ASSURANCE:::

L: Our Father, forgive us for thinking small thoughts of You and for doubting Your immensity and greatness. Lord Jesus, forgive us when we forget that You are Lord of all the world and our small lives. Holy Spirit, we offend You in minimizing Your power and squandering Your gifts. We confess that our unbelief and blindness to Your glory, O Triune God, has resulted in shallow confession, tepid conviction, and only mild repentance.

C: Have mercy upon us. Through Your Spirit’s work, bring us to true repentance, remind us of our need for Your grace, and cause us to believe more fully in our Savior, Jesus, who has made us righteous through His sacrifice on the cross! It’s in the Glorious name of Jesus Christ that we pray.

:::COMMUNION:::

L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.

C: We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.

L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.

C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.

Song: “When I Survey”

:::COMMITMENT:::

L: God forbid that I should boast of anything but the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ.
C: In him is salvation, life, and resurrection from the dead; by him we are redeemed and set free.
L: We go with the assurance of our salvation and a mission to proclaim the cross of Christ to the world around us.
C: May God be gracious to us and bless us, and make his face shine upon us that we, and all around us, would know his grace!
