Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – Sunday November 8th, 2015

Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and readings of the Veritas worship gathering on November 8th, 2015

This week we continued our sermon series, Remembering our Redemption, with a sermon entitled “Resurrection” from Luke 24:5-6 preached by Wes Thompson. So, as we relive the story of redemption seen throughout Scripture, let us open our ears and our hearts to hear from God through His Word and rejoice in Him! We will start the gathering by singing a song called “Hail The King”.

Song: “Hail the King”

L: We give thanks, great God, for the hope we have in Jesus, who died but is risen and rules over all.

C: We praise you for his presence with us.

L: Because he lives, we look for eternal life, knowing that nothing past, present, or yet to come can separate us from your great love made known in Jesus Christ, our Lord.

C: We give you glory, O God, for the abundant love that you have shown us through a risen Savior. Amen!

 Song: “New Again”
L: Together we confess:
C: “I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord .
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
 He descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again;
 He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father,
He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.”

L: Sovereign Lord, we confess to you that we are often greedy and selfish with the things that you have given to us. We know that all of these, including money, time, and gifts are given to us that we may glorify you. Because of Jesus’ death on the cross and His resurrection from the grave we are empowered to worship you in all aspects of our lives.

C: By your loving grace, empty us of our self-idolizing ways, and by your Holy Spirit, guide us to live for your glory. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Song: “In Christ Alone”

Our sermon was preached by Wes Thompson entitled “Resurrection”, from Luke 24:5-6.

Song: “Jesus At The Center”

L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.

C: We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.

L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.

C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.

Song: “Hallelujah, What A Savior”

L: Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God!
C: He has saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace.
L: This grace has been given to us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, and now has been manifested through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus.
C: Our Savior has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through His death and resurrection! Praise be to God for His grace!
based on 2 Timothy 1:8-10

Song: “Amazing Grace (God of Grace)”

May you go forth with joy because Jesus our Savior lives! He has defeated death, risen from the grave and will one day soon return to gather his church to himself! Go resting and rejoicing in what Jesus has done for us, and living for his glory in all that we do. Peace be with you.
