Veritas Gathered: Preparing for Sunday November 15th, 2015
This week we are continuing our walk through the story of redemption, working from Genesis to Revelation. Aaron Lockhart will be preaching a sermon called “Grace ” based on Ephesians 2:8-9. As we reflect on the history of our own redemptive story, let us remember the meaning behind the authors words and let the Holy Spirit guide us in correct understanding.
L: God of salvation, in Christ you have done great things – our hearts are filled with joy. By your power you lifted us out of the wasteland of sin and brought us with joy and laughter into your kingdom.
Salvation is your gift to us. But we confess that often we try to replace your gift with our own efforts. We try to complete what is already perfect; we try to add to what is already full; we try to earn what we already have.
C: Forgive us for our foolishness. Help us trust in and receive your grace. Empower us to live grateful lives that reflect your Glory. For Jesus’ sake alone. Amen.
Check out this list of some of the songs we will be singing together this week:
- “Come Thou Fount” – an old hymn that calls us to praise and worship the Father for the blessings of each day.
- “No Condemnation” – That title says it all. This song encourages us to fully embrace that there is truly no condemnation for those who are in Christ.
- “Grace Alone” – a song that calls us to remember how immense the grace of God is.
Here is a link to a Spotify playlist. This playlist is comprised of songs being played at all four congregations this weekend, so you may not hear them all at your congregation. Even though our arrangements might be slightly different, listen through these songs and see the great truths that they speak about our God and then come prepared to sing them out loudly and joyfully as a gathered church.
