Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – Sunday November 15th, 2015

Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and readings of the Veritas worship gathering on November 15th, 2015

This week we continued our sermon series, Remembering our Redemption, with a sermon entitled “Grace” from Ephesians 2:8-9 preached by Wes Thompson. So, as we relive the story of redemption seen throughout Scripture, let us open our ears and our hearts to hear from God through His Word and rejoice in Him! We will start the gathering by singing a song called “The Word”.

Song: “The Word”

:::ADORATION:::

L: For God alone, O my soul, wait and be still. Remember, brothers and sisters, our hope is from Him. He alone is our rock and our salvation, our fortress; we shall not be shaken. On God rests our salvation and our glory; our mighty rock, our refuge is God.

C: Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.
based on Psalm 62:5-8

Song: “By His Grace”

:::APOSTLES CREED:::

Together we confess:

“I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
He descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again;
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father,
He will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.”

:::CONFESSION/ASSURANCE:::

L: God of salvation, in Christ You have done great things—our hearts should be filled with joy and hope. By Your power, You lifted us out of the wasteland of sin and brought us into Your kingdom.

Salvation is Your gift to us. But we confess that often we try to replace Your gift with our own efforts. We try to complete what is already perfect; we try to add to what is already full; we try to earn what we already have.

C: Forgive us for our foolishness. Help us trust in and receive Your grace. Empower us to live grateful lives that reflect Your Glory. For Jesus’ sake alone. Amen.

Song: “Come Ye Sinners”

:::PASSING OF THE PEACE:::

:::PROCLAMATION OF THE WORD:::

Our sermon was preached by Wes Thompson, entitled “Grace”, from Ephesians 2:8-9.

:::COMMUNION:::

L: In the night in which he was betrayed, Our lord Jesus took bread, He gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and eat; this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.

L: Again, after supper, He took the cup, gave thanks,  and gave it for all to drink, saying; this cup is The new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. Do this for the remembrance of me.

Silent Reflection – to prepare our hearts to come to the Lords table

L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.
C: We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.

L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.
C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.

L: If you believe Jesus died to forgive you your sins you are welcome to come,

L: Come for all is ready.

L:The body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ strengthen you and keep you in His Grace

Amen
