Veritas Gathered: Preparing for Sunday November 22, 2015

SERMON

This week we are continuing our walk through the story of redemption, working from Genesis to Revelation. Wes Thompson will be preaching a sermon called “Glory ” based on Revelation 21:1-4. As we reflect on the history of our own redemptive story, let us remember the meaning behind the authors words and let the Holy Spirit guide us in correct understanding.

LITURGY

L: People of God – remember your redemption! For this light momentary suffering is renewing us and preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen on this earth, which are fading, but to the things that are unseen which are eternal. For we know that God, the author of our redemption and salvation, will also raise us also with Jesus, whom he raised from the dead, and bring us into his glorious presence.
Here, there will be a new heaven, a new earth and a new city, where the river of life flows, where the tree of life bears fruit in every season and we will be reborn, restored, and renewed!
C: As citizens of heaven, this is our hope! And we are eagerly waiting for our Savior to return when we will be in his glorious presence forever! All Glory be to God our Father forever and ever. Amen!

– based on 2 Corinthians 4:14-18, Revelation 21:1-6, and Philippians 3:20-21

MUSIC

Check out this list of some of the songs we will be singing together this week:

  • “Jesus!” – A song of praise, to glorify the name of the Savior.
  • “Nothing But The Blood” – A reminder that the blood and sacrifice of Christ is the precious source of our new life.
  • “Be Thou My Vision” – A hymn which calls us to make God the desire and ruler of our hearts, forming our hearts to His own..

Here is a link to a Spotify playlist. This playlist is comprised of songs being played at all four congregations this weekend, so you may not hear them all at your congregation. Even though our arrangements might be slightly different, listen through these songs and see the great truths that they speak about our God and then come prepared to sing them out loudly and joyfully as a gathered church.
