Veritas Gathered: Preparing for Sunday December 6th, 2015
This week we are continuing our walk through Isaiah. Wes Thompson will be preaching a sermon called “Glory of God and the Mission of the Gospel” based on Isaiah 6. As we reflect on the words of the prophet, let us remember the meaning behind them and let the Holy Spirit guide us in correct understanding.
L: Merciful God, Above the clamor of the chaos and longing in our hearts and lives, Your Word of peace resounds. Grant us your joy and a peaceful spirit to remember and boldly proclaim the good news of Jesus in the hour in which we live.
C: Hasten the advent of that day when all chaos and hopelessness shall be banished, our deeds of darkness and sin cast off, and all Your peace, justice and joy are made known to all!
Check out this list of some of the songs we will be singing together this week:
- “Come Thou Long Expected Jesus” – a song of eager expectation, awaiting the moment of Christ’s coming to save.
- “O Come O Come Emmanuel” – a desperate plea for salvation, begging the Savior to rescue His people from their sinful state, as well as a song that looks forward to the glory of Christ’s return.
- “Holy Holy Holy” – A hymn that speaks to the glory and majesty of our God, the realization of which calls us to praise him with all that is in us.
Here is a link to a Spotify playlist. This playlist is comprised of songs being played at all four congregations this weekend, so you may not hear them all at your congregation. Even though our arrangements might be slightly different, listen through these songs and see the great truths that they speak about our God and then come prepared to sing them out loudly and joyfully as a gathered church.
