VERITAS GATHERED: LITURGY RECAP – EAST, SUNDAY JANUARY 17, 2016
Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and readings of the Veritas worship gathering on January 17, 2016
L: O Lord Most High, who dwells beyond the heavens, You can’t be compared with anything, you’re far beyond our loftiest thoughts. Gather us together in the name of Jesus, whom the angels adore, whose name is above every name. Lead us in our worship, that all we do might be filled with your grace, directed by your wisdom, informed by the truth, and accomplished to your glory.
C: For “Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.” Praise be to God!
– Adapted from “Leading in Prayer” by Hughes Oliphant Old and Psalm 145:3
Song: “Come Thou Fount”
Song: “Everything Is Yours”
L: Great and Mighty God, It’s a good thing for us to be humbled by your greatness. We are nothing when compared to you. Though we are weak and overwhelmed by our sins, your grace enables us to become more like you. In our sin and failure, have mercy on us, O God. May we remember the Mighty One, Jesus Christ, who stands for us and makes a way for us to be redeemed. His blood is our peace, His righteousness our strength, His condemnation our freedom, His Spirit our power, His Kingdom our heritage.
C: Lord, let us know your grace, that we would feel its strength and finding freedom from sin. By your grace, transform us and support us in life’s trials. May our days be framed by Your presence and glory, and not by anxiety, guilt, and the pressure of life’s circumstances. May we live in freedom and grace, and continual hunger for your righteousness. Father, we ask that these things would happen by the power of Your Spirit and the blood of Your Son. It’s in Jesus’ name that we pray, Amen.
– Based on a Puritan Prayer
