Leadership Transitions

Through much prayer, discussion, and the approval and affirmation with elders and members of Veritas, we are excited to move forward with and celebrate a number of leadership transitions!

For a few years, founding Pastor Nick Nye has served in dual roles as the the lead pastor of Veritas’ four congregations across the city in addition to shepherding the Short North congregation as the lead pastor. Effective this May, Nick will transition out of the Short North lead pastor role. He will focus his time as the lead pastor of Veritas by: investing in the congregational lead pastors, catalyzing new works by raising up pastors to plant new churches/congregations both locally and globally, and mobilizing local ministries alongside the central team (central serves all four Veritas congregations) amongst many other responsibilities. He will continue to preach regularly at the Short North congregation and will spend time preaching at the other Veritas congregations.

Also starting in May, Joe Byler, will officially step into the role of lead pastor for the Short North congregation. Joe has faithfully trained and raised up many worship leaders at Veritas and will continue doing so to transition smoothly out of his worship pastor role. He will continue shape Veritas gatherings and lead worship occasionally but will focus heavily on vision casting, preaching, developing and shepherding the Short North congregation.

Lastly, the full council of elders and Short North members have also approved and affirmed the installation of long-time member, Patrick Knable, as an elder. Patrick and his wife Ashlee will serve specifically the Short North congregation but will bring needed vision to the church as a whole.

With these new leadership structures we are hopeful that Veritas will continue to grow in depth and overall reach across Columbus and beyond.

Patrick Knable’s Bio

Patrick was born and raised in Akron, Ohio. He was blessed to grow up in family that was rooted in the gospel. At an early age he trusted in the work of Christ and put his faith in Him. Late in Patrick’s high school years he took on a leadership role for his church’s youth ministry. In 2004 he moved to Columbus to attend Ohio State University and became very involved in a church on campus. Through a hard time finding direction and focus in college, God showed Patrick his need to rely on Him. Patrick married his wife, Ashlee, in 2006 and they began attending Veritas in in March of 2009. Together, Patrick and Ashlee have served Veritas by leading the connect ministry for a time both at the Short North Congregation and Tri-Village as well as leading a community group for the last six years. Patrick and Ashlee live in the Weinland Park neighborhood with their son Ellis (four) and daughter Mera (two).
