Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – Short North, Sunday April 17, 2016
Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and readings of the Veritas worship gathering on April 17, 2016.
Song: “Praise to the Lord”
L: Praise be to God
C: who rescues us from the power of darkness; who redeems us, and sets us free!
L: Praise be to Jesus Christ, the firstborn of all creation,
C: through whom all things were made, in heaven and on the earth.
L: Praise be to the Spirit of God
C: whose presence sustains us, and whose breath renews all creation.
L: Behold! He is making all things new!
L: Come, O God, as You have made Your home among us. Continue to pour out Your Spirit and renew the face of the earth.
~adapted from “New Heaven, New Earth”
Song: “Bless the Lord (Son of Man)”
L: Merciful God, in Your gracious presence we confess our sin and the sin of this world. Although Christ is among us as our peace, we are a people divided against ourselves as we cling to the values of a broken world. The profit and pleasures we pursue lay waste the land and pollute the seas. The fears and jealousies that we harbor set neighbor against neighbor and nation against nation. We abuse Your good gifts of imagination and freedom, of intellect and reason, and turn them into bonds of oppression.
C: Lord, have mercy upon us; heal and forgive us. Set us free to serve You in the world as agents of Your reconciling love in Jesus Christ. Amen.

Song: “Come to Me”
Song: “Rock of Ages”
:::PASSING OF THE PEACE:::
:::PROCLAMATION OF THE WORD:::
Our sermon was entitled “Restoration and Delight”, from Isaiah 61-62.
L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.
C: We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.
L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.
C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.
Song: “Death in His Grave”
Song: “Jesus at the Center”
May the Father’s light shine in our darkness. May the Spirit open our eyes to see the glory of Jesus. May He cause us to live in and proclaim the grace we have received. Go in hope of the peace He brings to the world. Peace be with you.
