During the June 14th Sunday gatherings, Veritas addressed racial reconciliation. Guest speakers from the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, Dr. Russell Moore and Jamaal Williams, along with Taelor Gray from Veritas, taught us why reconciling racially segregated communities is a gospel issue.

Dr. Russell Moore

Dr. Russell Moore serves as the eighth president of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission of the Southern Baptist Convention, the moral and public policy agency of the nation’s largest Protestant denomination. A widely-sought cultural commentator, Dr. Moore has been recognized by a number of influential organizations. The Wall Street Journal has called him “vigorous, cheerful, and fiercely articulate” while The Gospel Coalition has referred to him “one of the most astute ethicists in contemporary evangelicalism.

Jamaal Williams

Jamaal Williams is Pastor of Forest Baptist Church in Louisville, Ky. He is a native of Chicago, IL. Jamaal received his bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University where he served as president of Intervarsity Christian Fellowship’s black chapter. He has a M.A in Church Ministries and is currently pursuing a D.Ed. Min in Black Church Leadership from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jamaal serves on the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission Leadership Council.

Taelor Gray

Taelor Gray was born in Columbus and has served the church in many capacities— leading high school, young adult, and youth ministries, city and community outreach, prison ministry, and as an elder. He has served in both urban and suburban church contexts, with a prayer that by God’s grace, His Church would embody an eternal apologetic for diversity. Taelor is a self-proclaimed “reformed charismatic” who enjoys writing rhythmic poetry, being a comic book geek, and spending time with his wife Liz, and son Levi.
