Jesus was a servant leader (Phil. 2:4-8). He washed the feet of His disciples and gave His life so that we may be free. We are called to love because He first loved us, yet how we love and serve our neighbors can look very different based on individual gifting. Our desire at Veritas is to have hearts so in love with God that we cannot help but pour out love to our community (1 John 3:16-18).
As we grasp the immensity of grace freely given to us by Christ’s death on the cross, we are compelled to be active participants in God’s grand narrative of redemption. We serve a redeeming God who is in the business of mending, not just spiritual brokenness, but bodily brokenness as well (Isaiah 58). We aim to grow as humble servants fighting for freedom, reconciliation, and restoration in our neighborhoods.
Serve C’bus was created to connect our learning with our living. We are taught the “what” and “why” of the Gospel, but we often have trouble figuring out the “how” of being on Gospel mission. It’s so easy for us to get caught up in religious routine and neglect God’s heart for justice, mercy, and faithfulness (Micah 6:8).
Our desire as a church is to give to our city and be an active presence within it, rather than simply using a building within it’s limits (Jer. 29:5-7). Serve C’bus is the catalyst and channel for Veritas to be transforming Columbus in tangible ways. Serving the Church
To be a loving servant of the church, you can serve at Sunday gatherings by being a part of Connect (making coffee and greeting old/new churchgoers), by volunteering with Veritas Kids during the gatherings, by participating in the audio/tech crew, or by helping set-up and maintain our facilities.
To learn more about what we believe about Service and how we live that out as a Gospel rhythm, we recorded a sermon in a series around our 3rd Anniversary:
