Praying with Help [Scripture]
The Scripture gives us words to pray. And the Spirit uses these words to draw us deeper into God’s word. We are not just reading words, we are encountering a God who speaks.
Praying with Help [Spirit]
Don’t we find ourselves at a loss for words when it comes to prayer? Prayer exposes our weakness and our inability to know what to ask for.
Learning to Ask Your Father
Prayer is an unimaginable reality that only the gospel makes possible. We don’t gain access to God through spiritual techniques and religious performance. Instead, the gospel gives courage to the ashamed. As verse 9 of Matthew 6 says, needy children can come to their Father and be with Him. How good it is that we can talk with our Father!
Learning To Be With Your Father
Our prayer life is a place where we feel the most humbled, the most weak, and the most embarrassed. In fact, if you were to poll Christians and ask, “What’s one area in your life where you feel you need to grow?” almost across the board you’d hear the answer “prayer.” We think it’s because we’re weak that we struggle with prayer. But the reality is, every very single one of us struggles to pray because we think we’re too strong. NOTE: We apologize for the poor quality of this audio track. Normally the audio sounds much better; but our primary capturing process failed, and this is a backup.
Community of Grace
When Jesus saves us, he saves us into the church, the community of grace. There are a lot of barriers that keep us from experiencing the type of community we’re called to be, but the work of Christ purchased the identity and reality of being God’s family.
Application IN
This past Sunday, we looked at how we’re called to apply the gospel in each sphere of our life—in our homes, work, culture, and in the church. Ultimately, though there are many barriers that keep us from living this out, our call to is glorify God in everything that we do because everything is under his domain as the sovereign King.
Rhythms AS
As God’s people, he’s given us identities as worshipers, community, servants, learners, and missionaries. He also calls us to live out these identities in the rhythms of everyday life. Ultimately, we can see each of these rhythms perfectly displayed in Jesus, so we look to him to empower us and work through us.
Stories Of Grace
God is continually working in and through Veritas to bear fruit here in our city, and across the world. This past Sunday, we wanted to reflect and be thankful that God is at work.
You Meant It For Evil, God Meant It For Good
The last sermon of our series in Genesis, the death of Jacob and the events surrounding his death in the life of Joseph. Joseph is confronted by his fearful brothers and again, shows them forgiveness rooted in faith in the sovereignty of God.
Joseph’s Rise To Power In Egypt
Through all of the suffering and hardship that Joseph has been through, God has been with him. Now, we see him rise from the pit he’s been in to be the prime minister of all of Egypt. Ultimately, Joseph points to Jesus who suffered and died, and went to the pit, but was raised and is seated at the right hand of God.
