Columbus’ Abolition Community
“Weeping. So undeserving. In my absolute favorite coffeehouse. The Roosevelt Coffeehouse THIS ISN’T REAL LIFE.” — Lauren Benjamin at The Roosevelt Coffeehouse.
She Has A Name (SHAN) includes a silent auction every year at our annual gala. This year’s was extra special. Veritas member Lauren Benjamin created two original pieces for the auction. Roosevelt Coffeehouse owner Kenny Sipes won the bid for both pieces. Not only did he support her work, but he put them up for display at the coffee house! This photo is Lauren’s reaction to realizing her art is publicly valued. We talk about the abolition community in Columbus, but it is a living testament to the unification of the body united against the injustice of human trafficking and fighting for freedom.
