Worship Recap: Songs, Hymns and Spiritual Songs from April 14th, 2013
Welcome to the recap of the Veritas worship gathering on April 14th, 2013. Below are the songs and liturgy from our gathering.
Song: “The Love of God” by: Frederick M. Lehman and Meir Ben Isaac Nehorai
Reading: Call to Worship
This morning as we sing and worship, let’s specifically remember and reflect on the truth that God is our loving Father, who has made us his children by applying the righteousness of Christ to us! This is worthy of ALL of our worship! Let’s hear what scripture says about this!
L: God, for whom and through whom everything was made, chose to bring many children into glory. And it was only right that He should make Jesus, through His suffering, a perfect leader, fit to bring them into their salvation.
C: So now Jesus and the ones He makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call us His brothers and sisters. Praise be to the Almighty God, our Father!
—Based on Hebrews 2:10-11
Song: “How Great Thou Art” by: Stuart Wesley Keene Hine
Reading: Confession
As we sing this morning, we acknowledge God’s greatness, but the Spirit also reveals to us how often we live in a way that is contrary to God’s greatness and our identity as His children. In light of this, hear this historic prayer of confession and allow God’s spirit to draw you to repentance.
L: O Heavenly Father, teach me to see that if Christ has pacified thee and satisfied divine justice he can also deliver me from my sins. Teach me that Christ does not desire me, now justified, to live in self-confidence in my own strength, but gives me the law of the Spirit of life to enable me to obey thee; that the Spirit and his power are mine by resting on Christ’s death. Amen
C:Eternal God, in whom we live and move and have our being, whose face is hidden from us by our sins, and whose mercy we forget in the blindness of our hearts: cleanse us from all our offenses, and deliver us from proud thoughts and vain desires, that with reverent and humble hearts we may draw near to you, confessing our faults, confiding in your grace, and finding in you our refuge and strength; through Jesus Christ your Son.

Song: “Shine Into Our Night” by: Joel Sczebel
Reading: Assurance
L: At just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.
C: But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
– Romans 5:6-8
Song: “Only Your Blood” by: Neil Robins, Adapted from Issac Watts

Communion:
Please read with me the underlined portion:
L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.
C: We rejoice that You have died, rose again, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.
L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.
C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.
Song: “How Deep The Fathers Love For Us” by: Stuart Townend
Song: “There Is Power In The Blood” by: Lewis E. Jones
Reading: Commitment
L: All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.
C:Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.
L: God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.
C:So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins
– Ephesians 1:3-7
Song: “Made Alive” by: Matt Ledford and Casey Roberts
Benediction:
Hear this benediction as we go:
Go as adopted sons and daughters of the Father, through the blood of the Son Jesus and kept by the power of the Spirit. Peace be with you.
L: Peace be with you. C: And also with you.
