Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – September 22nd, 2013

Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and spiritual song of the Veritas worship gathering on September 22nd, 2013.

Song: “Compel My Heart To Sing” by Rebecca Elliot and Brooks Ritter

Reading: Call to Worship

L: Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom. One generation will tell of Your works to another; they speak of Your mighty acts and proclaim Your faithfulness. Together, we celebrate the glorious splendor of Your majesty—and we will meditate on Your wonderful works. We tell of the power of Your awesome works—and we will proclaim Your great deeds.
C: We will join with all generations as we celebrate Your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of Your righteousness.
—Adapted from Psalm 145:3-7

Song: “Holy, Holy, Holy” by Reginald Heber

Reading: Confession

L: Father God, our faith is often far from a living thing. Forgive us for professing to live by faith, while in reality, trusting in and clinging to material things and people for our security. Forgive us for worshipping idols, for worshipping created things rather than our Creator. Forgive us for growing comfortable and complacent with evil, allowing our minds to be conformed to and shaped by the ways of this world rather than by Your word. Forgive us for believing and spreading lies rather than truth. Give us eyes to see and ears to hear Your truth. Lead our hearts back to the beautiful Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Song: “Lead Us Back” by Bobby Gilles and Brooks Ritter

Reading: Assurance

C: For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. Yet God, with undeserved kindness, declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins. For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed His life, shedding His blood
—Based on Romans 3:23-26

Song: “Only Your Blood” by Neil Robins, Adapted from Issac Watts

Reading: Passing of the Peace

Our Sermon this week was from Pastor Brad Snyder from Romans 12:3-8

Listen to the sermon online here.

Song: “I Surrender All” by Judson W. Van De Venter, Vineyard Music Group, and Winfield Scott Weeden

Song: “All Glory Be Forever” by Jordan Kauflin

Reading: Commitment

L: Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent His only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
C: Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and His love is perfected in us.
—1 John 4:7-12

Song: “Love Shines” by Matt Carter, Philip Edsel, and Aaron Ivey

Benediction:

Hear this benediction as we go:

L: May the glory of God consume our entire lives as we live in his grace and go forth to share the gospel of Jesus! Go in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Peace be with you!
C: And also with you.
