Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – September 7, 2014

Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and spiritual song of the Veritas worship gathering on September 7, 2014

VISION FOR | PASTOR NICK NYE John 12:20-29

Today, look at the transformative power of our glorious God, and it’s in beholding him, fixing our gaze upon him, that we are transformed more and more into his likeness.

Song: “King Of Glory”

:::ADORATION:::

L: Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable.

C: One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.

L: On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate. They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds, and I will declare your greatness. They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness and shall sing aloud of your righteousness.

C: The Lord is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The Lord is good to all and his mercy is over all that he has made.

– PS 145:3-9

Our Triune God is alone worthy of our affection and worship.

Song: “You Alone”

:::CONFESSION/ASSURANCE:::

L: O Lord, in light of Your glory and holiness, we confess that our wills are rebellious, our faith is often more show then substance, our worship of You is often based more on our feelings rather than Your glory. Our hearts seek our own comfort and lead us to sin instead of following and trusting You, our Savior, our Messiah. Have mercy on us, O God. Help us to give to You all that we are and all that we have. Trusting You to lead us to repentance, to forgive what is sinful, to heal what is broken, to mold and shape us for Your glory.

C: We confess our need for You, our Savior, and trust in the work You accomplished for us on the cross. It’s in Your holy name that we pray. Amen.

Song: “Shine Into Our Night”

:::PASSING OF THE PEACE:::

God has chosen us in Christ for adoption as sons and daughters. So now with God as our Father, we’ve also been made brothers and sisters with one another. So as the family of God, take a few moments to share in that peace we’ve been given.

:::PROCLAMATION OF THE WORD:::

Our Sermon was from Nick Nye on John 12:20-29

:::COMMUNION:::

L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.

C: We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.

L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.

C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.

Song: “Empty Me Out”

Song: “O My Soul Arise”

:::COMMITMENT:::

L :Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
– Heb 12:1-2

C: Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.

– Heb 12:28-29

Song: “Be Thou My Vision”

:::BENEDICTION:::

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to the Gospel, to the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ.
