Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – December 21st, 2014

Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and readings of the Veritas worship gathering on December 21st, 2014

This Sunday, we’re continuing our Advent series leading up to our Eve of the Eve service this Tuesday and Christmas on Thursday! We will be focusing on Jesus being the Light of the World! We’re going to begin our gathering by singing a beautiful Christmas tune “O Little Town of Bethlehem”.

Song: “O Little Town of Bethlehem”

L: This saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance: That Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. There is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. He was manifested in the flesh, born in a lowly stable, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, and taken up in glory. He humbly gave Himself as a ransom for all, that we might have peace with God. Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of salvation!
C: To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen!
—Based on 1 Timothy 1:15-17; 2:5-6; 3:16

Song: “What Child is This”

C: We confess to You, O God of peace, our sin and unbelief. End our pride and take away our arrogance.

L: When the guilt of our ways threatens to overcome us, help us to remember Christ, the child born in Bethlehem, fully God yet fully Man, Who became the sacrifice for our sins and through Whom we are forgiven and restored.

C: Instill within us Your peace, O God. Help us to rest in the truth that everything is Yours and that You are working in our lives. Call our hearts to worship our Savior, Jesus. By Your Spirit, revive our souls with new life in You. Amen

Song: “Everything Is Yours”

Because of Christ’s work on the cross, his death and resurrection, we have been brought back into communion with our God! Because of Jesus, we can sing out with confidence, “In life and death, Lord, Abide with me.”. Our God is with us! We have peace with our creator, our Father. And that same peace is among us this morning, because the Spirit of God unifies us together in Christ! Lets demonstrate this together as we take a few moments to greet each other.

Our Sermon was from Nick on Application IN | Advent

Song: “More and More – Israel Houghton and BJ Putnam”

L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.
C: We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.
L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.
C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.

Song: “He Who Is Mighty – Sovereign Grace Music”

L: God has caused light to shine in our hearts, the light that is knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. Grant us the faith and grace to believe and receive this light!
C: Praise be to God for giving us salvation through Jesus Christ, our Lord!

—Based on 2 Corinthians 4:6

Song: “O Come All Ye Faithful”

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that your longing may be filled with hope in our Savior, Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. Go in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Peace be with you.
