Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – March 1st, 2015

Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and readings of the Veritas worship gathering on March 1st, 2015

This week we continuing our series on the book of Acts! This Sunday’s message is titled “No Other Name” and the sermon text for this first week is Acts 4:1-22. This passage speaks to God being the only name above all others! As we go through this very historical book lets open our ears and our hearts to hear from God through His Word. We will start by singing “Hail the King”

Song: “Hail the King – Citizens & Saints”

L: Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
C: For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods.
L: In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.

C: Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!
—Psalm 95:1-6

Song: “Our Great God”

L: The proof of God’s amazing love is this: While we were sinners, Christ died for us. Let us therefore approach the throne of grace with boldness, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Trusting in God’s faithfulness and compassion, we confess our sins before God and one another.
C: Holy and merciful God, in Your presence we confess our sinfulness, our shortcomings, and our offenses against You. You alone know how often we have sinned in wandering from Your ways, in wasting Your gifts, in forgetting Your love. Have mercy on us, O Lord, through the blood of Jesus, for we are ashamed and sorry for all we have done to displease You. Thank you for forgiving our sins. Fill us with Your love and Your Holy Spirit. Help us to surrender our selfish will to Your glorious grace that we would honor You in all we do. We thank You for Jesus, our Savior. Amen.

Song: “I Surrender All”

Because of Christ’s work on the cross, his death and resurrection, we have been brought back into communion with our God! Because of Jesus, we can sing out with confidence, “In life and death, Lord, Abide with me.”. Our God is with us! We have peace with our creator, our Father. And that same peace is among us this morning, because the Spirit of God unifies us together in Christ! Lets demonstrate this together as we take a few moments to greet each other.

Song: “You Are The Living Word – Israel Houghton”

L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.
C: We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.
L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.
C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.

Song: “How Deep the Father’s Love for Us”

C: For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
—Ephesians 3:14-21

Song: “More and More – Israel Houghton”

May the God of peace guard your hearts from the false and fading comforts of idols and may he lead you on to find true satisfaction in the blessings that only He can provide. Go now in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Peace be with you
