Money Raised for Nepal – The Impact

Back in the spring, we as a church took up a donation after the earthquake to help Hari love and serve his community well, which was devastated by the earthquake. Through the money that we sent through Hari’s church, they were able to deliver several tons of corrugated steel for the rebuilding of a village devastated by the earthquake. This steel was used to build intermediate shelters to last them through the winter months. They also made a banner that said who sent all the resources. And by no means did we ask them to do this but they made a banner that said this was a gift from Sojourn Community Church and Veritas Community Church. They put this on the banner particularly because when people receive aid they just assume it came from the government. The gift empowered Nepali Christians to take the lead in serving their country and opened doorways for future ministry opportunities. This was a powerful moment to be able to tell this village of Nepalis that they are loved and cared about by the International Church. The door that this gift has opened up for the preaching of the gospel is incredible. The churches in these villages have a rich and beautiful opportunity to share with the people, telling them they are not forgotten, and to share real hope and help through this rebuilding.
