Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – Sunday November 29, 2015

Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and readings of the Veritas worship gathering on November 29th, 2015

This week we began a journey through the book of Isaiah, with a sermon entitled “Isaiah Introduction” from Isaiah 1 preached by Nick Nye. So, as we walk through the words of this prophet, let us open our ears and our hearts to hear from God through His Word and rejoice in Him! We will start the gathering by singing a song called “Here is Love”.

Song: “Here is Love”

L: Let us worship God, who has done great things.
C: We rejoice in our God, who made a way through the desert of this world.
L: Let us worship God, who has caused streams of mercy to flow in the wasteland. We are the people God has formed through Christ; we worship Him, and we rejoice! Let us worship God in spirit and in truth.
C: We praise God for the grace that has saved us. Alleluia! We rejoice!
—Based on Isaiah 43:19-21

Song: “Everything is Yours”

L: Father, we confess that we do not worship You fully as we should. Our hearts run after the things of this world and we seek our own glory above Yours. We put You in a box, thinking small thoughts about You. We belittle You by worrying about our lives instead of glorifying You by trusting the promises You’ve made to us in Scripture.

C: We plead the blood of Christ and ask the Holy Spirit to help us glorify You by becoming more like Christ and more satisfied in You. It’s in the name of Jesus we pray.

Song: “Satisfied in You”

C: “Comfort, comfort my people”, says Your God. Your sins are pardoned. The penalty is paid. Thanks be to God.

—Based on Isaiah 40:1-2

Our sermon was preached by Nick Nye, entitled “Isaiah Introduction”, from Isaiah 1.

L: Jesus’ death brings us life and this meal reminds us that we are fed by Jesus and forgiven because of Jesus.

C: We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us. Amen.

L: With our money, time, and talent we give generously, knowing that through Your Son, Jesus, You have generously given to us.

C: We rejoice that You have given everything and we joyfully give everything back to Your care. Amen.

Song: “In The Shadow of the Glorious Cross”

Song: “Before the Throne”

L: We pray, Lord, as You shine the light of Your Word on us, that Your glory will rise upon us by the power of Your Spirit. Darkness may cover the earth and thick darkness the peoples, but, we pray, rise upon us, that Your glory may appear to the world. Nations will come to the light of Your Word, and peoples will be drawn to the brightness of Your coming. Help us, Lord, to lift our eyes to You, to hear You speak, and to listen with open hearts to Your gospel. Empower us to respond to Your Word with obedience, and help us to be Your shining lights in the universe.

C: We pray in the name of Christ, the light of the world. Amen.

—Based on Isaiah 60:1-4a

Song: “You Alone”

As you go, rest in what the Lord, our Redeemer, says: I am the First and I am the Last. There is no God but me. So do not fear; do not be afraid. You know it to be true: I alone am God—the Rock in whom you trust. Peace be with you.
