Book studies on discipleship

Imperfect Disciple by Jared C. Wilson

Five Wednesdays: July 7,14, 27, 28 and August 4
7:00pm – 8:30pm
Short North Building, 345 E 2nd Ave

The Imperfect Disciple is a discipleship book for people who are a little tired of discipleship books. This one is for the rest of us — people who screw up, people who are weary, people who are often wondering in church if it’s safe to say what they’re really thinking.

For the believer who is tired of quasi-spiritual “lifehacks” and fuzzy “fortune cookie” spirituality, here is a discipleship book that isn’t afraid to be honest about the mess we call real life.”

This book is for anyone who wants to know how the gospel works in them and in their lives when:

  • they can’t get their act together
  • they think God is giving them the silent treatment
  • they think church would be better without all the people
  • they’re not happy with the person in the mirror
  • and much more

Gospel Fluency by Jeff Vanderstelt

Five Wednesdays: July 7,14, 27, 28 and August 4
7:00pm – 8:30pm
Short North Building, 345 E 2nd Ave

Gospel fluency is the solution to our unbelieving hearts. Yes, the gospel is the answer to those who have not yet believed in Jesus. But it is also the answer to believers who continue to walk in unbelief in many areas of their life, not trusting his Word and living in light of what Jesus has accomplished for us. Gospel fluency is believing the gospel and speaking the truths of the gospel into the everyday stuff of life.

This book is for anyone who:

  • Has trouble knowing and believing the Gospel
  • Has trouble knowing why we need the Gospel
  • Knowing how to apply the Gospel to everyday life
  • Finds it hard to talk about the Gospel with others

These book studies are hosted by leaders at the Short North congregation of Veritas, but anyone is welcome to join!
