If we Christians are characterized by the gospel, then a complete receiving of God’s grace will affect our whole selves–including our emotions, feelings, and desires.
No where else in the Bible do we see such a poetic expression of raw emotion than in the book of psalms. The Psalms are a collection of songs and poems that express gospel themes: the eternal God, our desire to be saved, God’s justice, the hope of Christ, the need for repentance, and gratitude for his grace.
In other words, the psalms reveal the gospel story.
The East congregation is entering into emotional territory –the Psalms, connecting the dots between doctrine and the Christian life.
