Summary/Objective

The worship director shepherds the community each week to remember, experience, and respond to the glory of God. They are to shepherd and disciple musicians to serve and edify the community through their gifts, and direct the organization and implementation of the bands and of the weekly worship gatherings. 

Essential Functions

• Lead and engage the congregation through a gospel centered liturgy of songs, readings and prayers in responding to God’s call to worship him. Lead Sunday Worship 30-40x per year.
• Prepare and lead the band, both through leadership on stage and raising up and leading additional leaders, to musically and spiritually lead out in responding with worship to God.
• Ensure that the music serves the community by striving for excellence and creativity and that the arrangements are contextually accessible per the vision and goals of Veritas Music.
• Ensure that the songs and lyrics, liturgies and transitions are gospel centered, theologically sound, and engage and resonate with people.
• Prepare yourself and the band to lead and engage the community through the liturgical order which tells the gospel and calls people to passionately respond to the glory of God.
• Lead the liturgy by boldly calling people to respond to the glory of God as you shepherd them through the worship movements, using prayers, musical transition and other creative elements. 
• Coordinate with the audio techs to ensure that the necessary technology, equipment and instruments are in place and being utilized properly.
• Lead the band in spiritual growth in the gospel through relationships and personal discipleship, and in excellence and creativity in areas of music, production, flow, and songwriting.
• Lead and/or recruit worship leaders for special gatherings including holidays, funerals, weddings, worship nights etc. 
• Attend Veritas West leadership team meetings once per month and pursue church wide unity with other Veritas congregations by meeting regularly.

Supervisory Responsibility

• Oversee band volunteers.
