Sunday gatherings are a time to come together as a body of believers to encourage and build one another up in the gospel. One way in which we do this is through prayer. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic and making sure to follow the safety protocols, we have not been able to utilize our prayer team or pray together as often as we would like during Sunday gatherings. Currently, we feel confident that we can do this safely, so that is why we are starting the prayer team up again, but we will need your help! I would love to continue to build a culture of prayer within our church, where praying with one another would happen naturally on Sundays, that this wouldn’t just be something the prayer team would do, but something that all of us would do!
So often we, myself included, will be in conversation with someone and mention to them, “I will be praying for you.” There is nothing wrong with this statement, but what would it look like for us to use that moment to actually pray with them? If we are being honest, there is a hesitancy around praying with one another or in front of each other and sometimes feel awkward or unnatural, but God calls us to this. In Ephesians 6:18 it says, “Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.” Friends, I challenge and encourage us to this.
Building our prayer team is just the start of this culture of prayer. I invite you to join me in this mission, so that we can join together in continuing to point one another to Christ. Realistically, we need 20 people to join our prayer team so that we can have people available to pray at both gatherings every week. The plan is to have the prayer team members available in a specific part of the gathering space, after the sermon for us to come receive prayer. Please let me know if you’d like more information or if you want to join the prayer team!
