Presence and Promise
We take a quick break from Romans this week as Reid Monaghan (Jacob’s Well, New Jersey) delivers the Word from Exodus. A storyline throughout Scripture is God’s presence, from the Garden to the Temple to the New Jerusalem, God is bringing His people into His presence. From Job to Moses to the apostles, we see the presence of God giving His people new identities, a new joy, and a new mission to live in and live out. God is present with His people and that is a big deal.
Missionary
We took a break from Romans this week as Brian Howard, Executive Director of the Sojourn Network, came in to give a word about our identity as Missionaries. It’s really easy to picture missionaries as those people who move their families to the savannahs of Africa to teach them about Jesus, but every believer is called to be a missionary. We are to be missionaries in our normal lives because our friends need to know Jesus just as badly as those on the other side of the world.
Anniversary Special: A Pastor’s Heart
A look back on the history of Veritas and the grace God has shown us.
State of the Church Address
Our elders explain upfront who we the church are and how we live. We are to be members of community, learners, servants, and missionaries. Remember that you are the church. If you identify a need in the church, do not merely point out that something is missing, but rather be a part of the change. Learn how to engage your community group in the rhythms of life.
Repenting of Resolutions
Repent of trivial resolutions. Resolve to know Christ, to serve, and to not set your eyes before anything worthless. See that your motivation is for the glory of God. Train yourself for godliness. Fight daily, not yearly. When you fail to live up to these resolutions, and you will fail, repent.
Anniversary Special: The Gospel Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow
As Veritas celebrates its first year as a Church, we are again reminded of what binds us together as a church, the Gospel; the death of Christ, his resurrection, and our response to his gift. Without the gospel, we lose everything. No Gospel, no Veritas.
