In our faith in Christ, we are redeemed; we are a new creation living by faith and not by our own effort to earn credit with God. Jesus became flesh and took the weight of all our sin onto the cross with Him, where He shed His blood and had His body broken for us. We live in light of that sacrifice — in the joy of our justification in Him. Because of Christ, God looks on us as His children, seeing a purity and beauty that could only be bought with Christ’s blood. Though we are yet sinners, we are redeemed and our every thought, word, and action should flow from that truth.
We no longer live by the world, but rather by God’s Holy Spirit in us, who directs and guides us into deeper relationship with God and fuller identity in Christ. Every week as we gather to worship on Sundays, we take Communion as an act of worship and as a reminder of who Jesus is and who we are in Him.
It is in this identity that we have peace with our Father. Through Jesus, we can approach God in humble confidence, trusting that He calls us beloved sons and daughters. Our hope and prayer is to feel the fullness of that identity in every way, in everything, and in every experience. Our Gospel identity is our full identity — it is the answer, it is the truth of our eternal lives, and it is in this truth that we find peace in Christ.
