Summer of God’s Love
Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good,
for his steadfast love endures forever!
Psalm 106:1
Only because of the work of Christ can God’s steadfast love endure in and through people like us- Sinners saved by grace. It’s really unbelievable. We’re all pretty messed up (tell me something I didn’t know!). In desperate need of a savior. And what does Jesus provide? Love that endures….. forever. Love that endures through our sin. Love that endures through our disobedience and doubt. Love that endures through our struggle and suffering. Steadfast love. It never slows. It never redirects. It’s steadfast and it’s pointed right at us. Whatever you think can/will/is keep(ing) God from loving you, I have good news for you: His love endures….. forever.
It’s as if He keeps no record of wrongs. It’s as if He has separated your sin as far as the east is from the west. It’s as if He has hidden you in the perfection of His son. Yeah, its exactly like that. Hallelujah!
I hope that will refresh you this summer. Let it wash over you. Take notice this summer of God’s relentless love for you. If you happen to visit a beach in the coming months, watch the waves, close your eyes and listen and be reminded of God’s love. Steadfast like the tide. Never taking a break. Always right on time. Wave after wave of grace. God’s love crashing into you. What a glorious truth. Often difficult to believe, but glorious to enjoy!
