Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – August 11th, 2013

Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and spiritual song of the Veritas worship gathering on August 11th, 2013.

Below are the songs and liturgy readings from our gathering. We pray that this would encourage you and point you to the gospel as we continue in worship as a scattered community on mission.

Song: “The Truth” by Mars Hill- Ghost Ship

Reading: Call to Worship

L: Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and His greatness is unsearchable. One generation shall commend Your works to another, and shall declare Your mighty acts.
C: On the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and on Your wondrous works, we will meditate. We shall speak of the might of Your awesome deeds, and we will declare Your greatness. We shall pour forth the fame of Your abundant goodness and shall sing aloud of Your righteousness. Great is the Lord!
—Based on Psalm 145:3-7

Song: “All Creatures Of Our God And King” by Francis of Assisi

Reading: Confession/Assurance

L: O Lord, in light of Your glory and holiness, we confess that our wills are rebellious, our faith is often more show then substance, our worship of You is often based more on our feelings rather than Your glory. Our hearts seek our own comfort and lead us to sin instead of following and trusting You, our Savior, our Messiah. Have mercy on us, O God. Help us to give to You all that we are and all that we have. Trusting You to lead us to repentance, to forgive what is sinful, to heal what is broken, to mold and shape us for Your glory.
C: We confess our need for You, our Savior, and trust in the work You accomplished for us on the cross. It’s in Your holy name that we pray. Amen.

Song: “Abide With Me” by Henry Francis Lyte and William Henry Monk

Song: “In The Shadow Of The Glorious Cross” by  Brooks Ritter and Rebecca Elliot

Reading: Passing of the Peace

Our Sermon this week was from Pastor Nick Nye from Romans 10: 9-13

Song: “Death In His Grave” by John Mark McMillan

Song: “Grace Alone” by Mars Hill- Modern Post

Reading: Commitment

L: All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead.
C: Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.
—1 Peter 1:3-4

Song: “In Tenderness” by Mars Hill- Citizens

Benediction:

Hear this benediction as we go:

L: Go in the grace and peace of Jesus Christ, from whom we have received God’s mercy. Go in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Peace be with you.
C: And also with you.
