Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – October 27th, 2013

Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and spiritual song of the Veritas worship gathering on October 27th, 2013.

Song: “Take” by Louie Giglio, Frances Ridley Havergal, Henri Abraham Cesar Malan, and Chris Tomlin

Reading: Call to Worship

L: The Lord is righteous in all his ways and kind in all his works. The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them. The Lord preserves all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy. My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord, and let all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever.
-Psalm 145:17-21

Song: “Oh! Great Is Our God” by The Sing Team- Mars Hill Church

Reading: Confession/Assurance

L: Jesus, my Savior, help me to wait patiently, silently upon you, knowing that you alone can satisfy my feeble heart. Let your mercy follow me while I live, call me to repentance, and give me aid to resign myself to your will.
C: Take my heart and hold it in your hand; mold it into your likeness and write upon it a reverence to you with an inscription that time and eternity cannot erase.
L: To your grace and your covenant I commit myself, for you have overcome the world, fulfilled the law, finished justifying righteousness, swallowed up death in victory, and taken all power everywhere.
C: I confess my continual need for your grace and rejoice in the vast depths of Your mercy in which I find peace and restoration!
– adapted from The Valley of Vision: A Collection of Puritan Prayers and Devotions

Song: “Jesus Paid It All” by John Thomas Grape, Elvina M. Hall, and Alex Nifong

Reading: Commitment

C: We were dead in the trespasses and sins in which we once walked, as we carried out the desires of our bodies and minds, and were by nature children of wrath.
L: But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ, raising us up with Him to the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
C: It is by grace we have been saved through faith.
L: And this is not our own doing; it is the gift of God. It is not a result of our works, so that no one may boast.
C: For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
—Based on Ephesians 2:1-10

Song: “The Love of God” by Frederick M. Lehman and Meir Ben Isaac Nehorai

Benediction:

Hear this benediction as we go:

L: As we go, may our hearts continue to respond in worship to the glory of God as revealed to us by the Holy Spirit in and though the work and person of Jesus Christ, our Savior. Go and live to the Glory of God! Peace be with you.
C: And also with you.
