Veritas Gathered: Liturgy Recap – October 6th, 2013

Welcome to the recap of the songs, hymns and spiritual song of the Veritas worship gathering on October 6th, 2013.

:: Today we joyfully celebrated the Five year anniversary of Veritas Community Church. It was a day full of remembrance, thankfulness, and shepherded vision. We know as a church that without the faithfulness of our God that none of this would have been possible.  As we continue to grow as a body and preach the Gospel to our city it is our desire to “Know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.”  ::

Song: “Warrior” by Bobby Gilles, Dave Moisan, and Neil Robins

Reading: Call to Worship

L: Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, he is God!
C: It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
L: Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name!
C: For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
—Psalm 100

Song: “Come Thou Fount” by Robert Robinson and John Wyeth

Song: “Be Thou My Vision” by Mary Elizabeth Byrne and Eleanor Henrietta Hull

Reading: Confession/Assurance

L: What do you believe about the work of God?
C: We believe that God, who is perfectly merciful and just, sent His Son to bear the punishment of our disobedience by His most bitter death.
L: And what do you believe about the work of Jesus Christ?
C: We believe that Jesus Christ presented Himself in our name before His Father, to appease His wrath with full satisfaction by offering Himself on the cross and pouring out His precious blood for the cleansing of our sins.
L: What comfort does this give you?
C: We find all rest and comforts in His wounds and have no need to seek or invent any other means to reconcile ourselves with God than this one and only sacrifice, once made, which renders believers perfect forever.
—Based on the Belgic Confession, Articles 20-21

Song: “In Christ Alone” by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend

Reading: Passing of the Peace

Our Sermon this week was from Nick Nye from Philippians 2:1-11

Song: “The Solid Rock” by William Batchelder Bradbury and Edward Mote

Song: “Our God” by Jonas Myrin, Matt Redman, Jesse Reeves, and Chris Tomlin

Reading: Commitment

L: This is the good news that we have received, in which we stand, and by which we are saved: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, and that He was raised to life on the third day,
C: We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. He is our Lord and our God.
L: We rejoice that the Spirit of God is transforming our hearts and lives through the Gospel of Jesus, as He is waking and empowering us to see our place and mission in this world.
C: Go forth in us, Spirit of God, that we may be the unified church as we worship the glory of God, live out the Gospel in loving community, display the love of Jesus as active servants, learn more of God’s glory and our mission though studying God’s Word, and as we proclaim the saving grace of Jesus as we live as missionaries to all around us.
L: In a world distant from God, where millions of people face confusing choices,
C: this mission to proclaim Jesus is central to our being, for we announce the one name that saves!
—Based on a reading from “The Worship Source Book”

Song: “All Hail The Power of Jesus’ Name” by Oliver Holden, Edward Perronet, and John (adapt) Rippon

Benediction:

Hear this benediction as we go:

L: May the glory of God be proclaimed and consume our entire lives as we live in his grace and go forth to share the gospel of Jesus! Go in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Peace be with you!
C: And also with you.
